Andréa Jones, successful podcast host of the top-rated podcast, the Social Savvy Podcast and founder of OnlineDrea, shares her passion for helping entrepreneurs increase customer engagement and grow a following organically. Andréa was named one of Social Report’s top marketers to follow in 2019 and shares her strategies, tactics, and passion with her private clients, students, and today on the One Big Tip podcast.
Andréa’s interest in social media began in 2007 when she created YouTube videos of her home, before being a YouTuber was cool. During her years at University, Andréa interned as a digital marketer for a theater company. Shortly after graduation, Andréa moved to Canada, got married, and dove into entrepreneurial waters when she began her freelancing career as a digital marketer. After finding success, Andréa opened her digital marketing agency, OnlineDrea.com, where she works with clients to grow their business by using the appropriate platforms for their market so they can gain revenue and loyal customers.
For Andréa, the most challenging part of shifting from freelancer to marketing agency owner was learning how to become a team leader who inspires her employees. Creating a virtual team that can serve her clients was a skill that she learned through the school of hard knocks. Today, to be a member of team Andréa, you need to have a love of social media, those that don’t need not apply. Another aspect of creating teams is creating SOPs (standard operating procedures). This allows every client to receive the same level of service as if they were the only client.
Andréa approaches social media marketing from a different perspective than content creators. Her strategy is – three hours a week is all you need to build a successful business and create a community and loyal customer base. This only works if you know which platform your customers will be on and their goal. If you’re an author, you want to establish authority and get your name out there. If you’re in the eCommerce industry, conversions and ROI are where you focus. This distinction is an integral part of Andréa’s strategy and part of what makes her a success. One strategy Andréa uses when creating a marketing campaign is mirroring what your business does for its target audience on social media. Reflecting on who you are and what your brand stands for on social media is the best way to find a client’s voice because it creates authenticity.
